This is a unique opportunity to acquire a home with character, history, and strong ties to Barsebäckshamn’s local cultural heritage.

The former Mission House spans 231 square meters across three floors. The entry level features a spectacular living room with a vaulted ceiling, a kitchen, a dining area, a laundry room, and a guest bathroom. The upper level accommodates up to four bedrooms and two bathrooms. The basement level features a hobby room/office, wine cellar, pantry, and boiler room.
The house is surrounded by a flat, beautiful, and lush 777-square-meter lot with lawns, gravel paths, established shrubs, trees, flower beds, and a two-car garage. There is also a covered patio. The sea is just a one-minute walk away.

The Mission House was built in 1922 through the joint efforts of the harbor’s residents, as there was a great need for a winter-ready community hall. The work was led by master builder Nils Nilsson from the harbor, whose signature is said to still be preserved on a floorboard in the house. As early as New Year’s 1923, the first tenant moved in: the Mission House’s caretaker and his family. They lived in a two-room apartment with a kitchen in the upper southern part of the building, a space that is now used as a bedroom with an adjoining bathroom.

Over the years, the Mission House has served many purposes. It has hosted Sunday school, meetings, and gatherings; screened films; hosted parties; and created summer memories. During World War II, particularly in the fall of 1943, the house was also used to receive and house Danish refugees.

In the 1950s and 60s, the large hall was divided with drapes and rented out during the summer. Later, sometime in the 1960s or 1970s, the Mission House passed into private ownership and has since been used as both a summer home and a permanent residence. In 1978, the great hall was expanded to include a larger balcony, several additional bedrooms, and charming bay windows.

The result today is a distinctive home where history is still clearly present. The generous spaces, the house’s unique history, and the vibrant connection to the people of the harbor make this a home unlike any other. All in all, the location in Barsebäck offers a peaceful setting by the sea with a distinct character and a lifestyle close to nature.

The surroundings

In Barsebäckshamn, you’ll find a timeless fishing village on the Öresund, where the sea and harbor life set the tone year-round. Here, you can swim right off the harbor’s small beach and from the piers along the pier, and via the Skåneleden trail, you can continue on the Kunskapsstigen trail toward Barsebäckstrand. Barsebäckstrand is an EU-certified swimming area with a sandy beach, a pier, and spacious grassy areas—perfect for both morning swims and long summer evenings.

Barsebäck and Barsebäckshamn offer excellent opportunities for both activities and dining. For sports enthusiasts, Barsebäck Resort is a major hub, featuring two 18-hole golf courses along with accommodations, a restaurant, conference facilities, and padel. The harbor also boasts a vibrant boating community through the Pinhättan Sailing Club, which, among other things, runs a sailing school. The coastal location also offers natural trails for exercise and recreation, including swimming, walking, and biking along the Öresund.

When it comes to food, the offerings are clearly rooted in the waterfront. Barsebäcks Hamnkrog is located right in the harbor area and is a popular stop during the season.
