At Österlånggatan 39, a raw space of approximately 176 square meters spread over three floors serves as the starting point for a unique townhouse residence. The buyer is responsible for the conversion, and Arkipol has prepared the architectural plans; the necessary permits are in place, but the interior is a blank canvas. There is a private entrance facing Pelikansgränd, and the opportunity to purchase an adjacent basement space of approximately 50 square meters from the homeowners’ association. History

Cron, a well-known figure in the restaurant scene during the 1660s, popularized the name Österlånggatan among the cultural elite of the time through his restaurant, Pelikan. Traces of this era can still be seen in the building in the form of a beautifully preserved columned entrance with a limestone staircase.

The basement, with its vaulted ceilings and thick limestone walls, once hosted guests such as the poet Carl-Michael Bellman.

Österlånggatan 39 was renovated and expanded over the course of various eras; architectural elements from the 18th century adorn the floor with details in the style for which Louis Masreliez (1748–1810)—painter, decorator, and interior designer to Gustav III—became famous. Masreliez was a prominent figure during the Gustavian period in Sweden.

Masreliez’s works are characterized by wall panels executed in the late-Gustavian “Pompeian” style, a style inspired by the excavations of ancient Pompeii that were underway at the time. At the Röhsska Museum, Masreliez’s wall panels can be viewed in the so-called Masreliez Rooms.
