Lennartsnäs is named after Field Marshal Lennart Torstensson, and the estate was inherited by his son, Anders Torstensson. Lennartsnäs was taken over by his daughter Greta Magdalena Torstensson, who died in 1747 as the last of her famous lineage. In 1758, her heirs sold the estate to merchant Henrik König, who in turn sold it in 1769 to the future Marshal of the Court, Gustaf Wachschlager. Wachschlager began construction of the current castle building, but left it unfinished after his death in 1812. After Wachschlager's death, the estate was inherited by his grandson Gustaf Göran Gabriel Oxenstierna, who sold it to Count Per Gustaf af Ugglas in 1831. In 1850, he transferred Lennartsnäs to his younger son, Baron Curt Gustaf af Ugglas, who died in 1895. The castle was separated from the Lennartsnäs estate in 1949.
