This culturally and historically significant building at 12 Knut Pernos väg is known as the Architect’s Villa. It was built between 1911 and 1913 according to plans by architect Carl Kempendahl as a home for himself and his family.
In 1906, Kempendahl joined the banking firm E. Öhman jr. in Stockholm, which had been founded that same year with a focus on real estate transactions, where he became construction manager. Thor Thorén and Ferdinand Boberg also joined the firm. In 1907, Öhman and two partners founded AB Saltsjö-Duvnäs Villatomter. Kempendahl was hired by the real estate company as construction manager and consultant and is responsible for a number of villas in Saltsjö-Duvnäs in the late Art Nouveau and National Romantic styles.
The villa is a fine example of the National Romantic style, with its small-paned windows, brown wood paneling, and other rustic features. The façade features a variety of intriguing details, such as small and larger balconies, masonry sections, and windows of varying sizes. Inside, there are numerous charming elements, including paintings, leaded windows, deep niches, arched openings, and paneling on the walls and ceilings.
