Stora Vasholmen is located just south of Tynningö, around the corner from Vaxholm. The island can be reached by Waxholmsbåt, which operates frequent and regular service through Waxholmsbolaget. The island consists of 21 properties of varying sizes. There is a strong sense of community and harmony among the residents on the island. Residents hold annual community cleanup days and organize a range of activities, such as the well-known Varpa competition and a large Midsummer celebration. There are several communal areas on the island, including a sandy beach, meadows, and a very pleasant boathouse where annual crayfish parties and other celebrations take place. On the northern part of the island, there is a dock facility that includes a boat slip for this specific property. There are also a couple of guest slips available here.
The easiest way to reach Vasholmen is by boat from Vaxholm, which takes about 15 minutes, or from Strömkajen below the Grand Hotêl in Stockholm, which takes just over an hour. During the summer months, there is a special shuttle service that departs early in the morning, serves breakfast, and arrives at Strömkajen at 8 a.m.
