The area northeast of Möja, where the sea opens up and the horizon stretches across Nassafjärden toward the Sea of Åland, is considered by many to be the archipelago’s finest location. Here lies Lilla Tornö, one of the archipelago’s most magnificent islands, covering just under seven hectares, with an unobstructed view of the horizon to the east and open water toward the sunset in the west. This is a very rare combination in the Stockholm archipelago, so for the connoisseur, this offers a unique opportunity to acquire a summer retreat in a class of its own on a private island.

Description

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Lilla Tornö was purchased in 1917 by Krister Littorin, Ivar Kreuger’s closest associate and vice president of Svenska Tändsticksaktiebolaget. Littorin developed the island and spent many weekends and summers there; the property is still owned by the same family today.

Lilla Tornö boasts stunningly beautiful natural scenery, featuring rugged cliffs and sheltered coves, fields of wood anemones, blueberry forests, and mountain plateaus with unparalleled views. The area is home to bladderwrack, bald eagles, herring, and cod. In addition to the main island, the property includes several smaller islets and a perch fishing ground. The property covers an area of 67,824 square meters.

The location in the archipelago is perfect for excursions to Stora and Lilla Nassa, Kallskär, Ängskär, and other nearby islands. In Långvik on Möja, just five minutes away, there’s a grocery store, a mailbox with daily newspapers, and the Waxholm ferry, which departs from Strandvägen Strömkajen several times a day.

BUILDINGS

The main building, approximately 200 square meters, was completed in 1918 and features four bedrooms, a shower room, a kitchen, and a large, lovely living room. The living room opens onto a stone-paved terrace with a magical ocean view and sunshine from morning to evening. The house retains many beautiful original features, including custom-built woodwork and fireplaces in every room; the living room also features a magnificent open fireplace that was originally gifted to Littorin by Louis De Geer of Leufsta Bruk.

In the sheltered cove on the western side of the island, there is a lakeside cottage of about 50 square meters, along with an attached boathouse. There is an older dock here for boats and swimming, and there is another dock on the southern point.

The buildings have been well maintained but are now in need of renovation. There is a flush toilet, but the sewage system needs to be replaced. An electric incinerating toilet has been installed. There is a drilled well for water, as well as a seawater pump that could be usefully supplemented with a desalination system to provide free access to fresh water.
